Step 1
In order to apply for your CCW, you must own a registered firearm. With over 34 years of law enforcement experience, Inglis CCW Firearm Training is qualified and prepared to assist you in selecting a firearm that best suites your needs.
Step 2
Apply for your CCW with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
Step 3
As of 1/1/2024 Initial CCW applicants are required to take 16 hours of training. Renewal applicants are required to complete 8 hours of training.
CCW Application Overview
CCW applicants will be required to complete the following steps:
Application – You will complete online the official application for a California Concealed Carry Weapon license. You must completely and accurately fill out this application to be considered for a Concealed Carry Weapon License. Any falsification of the information within this application is a crime and will result in the denial of the applicant’s Concealed Carry Weapon license request. California Penal Code sections 26150 and 26155 provide that a Sheriff of a county or the Chief or other head of a municipal police department of any city, or city and county, may issue a license to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person (Concealed Carry Weapon license).
Fingerprints – Typically conducted via Live Scan. Fingerprints are checked through the Department of Justice.
Interview – In person
Background Check – A comprehensive check of the applicants background will be completed. Arrests, financial and driving record etc. are reviewed.
Training – As of 1/1/2024 Initial CCW applicants are required to take 16 hours of training. The 16 hours of training will include both classroom style training, as well as actual shooting proficiency drills at the shooting range. During this time you will earn your certification for both the written test and the live fire qualification test. Renewal applicants are required to complete 8 hours of training.
